Aspetar Participates in AFC Medical Committee Meeting in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur:Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital took part in the sixth meeting of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Medical Committee, held at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting highlighted significant advancements in sports science for Asia. Among the key outcomes was the recommendation of the Vietnam Football Federation as the Host Association for the AFC Medical Conference in 2027, marking the first time Vietnam will host the event in Hanoi. The conference aims to continue the achievements of the previous meeting in Kuala Lumpur, which saw over 800 international sports medicine professionals in attendance.

The meeting also saw the approval of the Sejong Sports Medicine and Performance Center as an AFC Medical Centre of Excellence. This designation will support the development and recovery of professional players across East Asia.

Additionally, the committee approved new 'Heading and Safety Guidelines in Children's Football', a framework developed from a proposal by the AFC Technical Committee that emphasizes the importance of medical expert validation. These decisions are pending ratification by the AFC Executive Committee.
