Asian Games 2023/ QOC Secretary-General Hails Qatar’s Achievements

HE Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain hailed the Qatari achievements in the 19th Asian Games which concluded Sunday in Hangzhou, China.

Without a doubt, the Qatari athletes have made honorable results with 14 medals including five gold, six silver, and three bronze, as always in such major events, Al Buainain said.

These satisfactory results reflect the development of the level of Qatari sports in light of the unlimited support from the wise leadership and the great attention given by the QOC, chaired by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, in addition to the efforts of federations and committees, he added.

Al Buainain considered that seven Qatari sports federations winning medals in the Asian Games 2023, in addition to achieving two medals for the first time in 33 basketball and squash, is a good indication that Qatari sports are on the right path.

The QOC, in coordination with the sports federations, was keen to give the opportunity to many young play
ers to participate in the tournament in line with the strategy of preparing teams for the Asian Games – Doha 2030, he added, hailing the Asian Games in Hangzhou as an opportunity for interaction with international athletes, some of them among the world’s top-seeded, which would positively reflect on the levels of Qatar’s promising athletes and enhance their experience for future tournaments.

The Asian Games 2023 saw the participation of around 12,000 athletes from 45 countries. (MORE)
