Ashghal Launches QAR 418 Million Roads and Infrastructure Project in Izghawa and Al Thumaid

Izghawa:The Public Works Authority, known as Ashghal, has commenced construction for the second phase of the Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Izghawa and Al Thumaid. This phase, valued at approximately QAR 418 million, is a part of Ashghal's broader initiative to enhance road networks and infrastructure services in response to the area's urban and population growth.

According to Qatar News Agency, Project Engineer Tamader Al Mass from Ashghal's Roads Projects Department highlighted the significance of this phase in completing the area's infrastructure development. The project aims to serve around 771 plots, along with schools, commercial centers, mosques, and other essential service facilities. It will also incorporate the latest systems and technical standards to support urban expansion.

The development includes constructing 23 km of roads and 30 km of pedestrian and cycling paths. Additionally, it involves installing 589 street lighting poles and creating 2,730 parking spaces, with a focus on road safety and traffic flow improvements. Sustainable solutions are also a priority, with plans to increase green spaces and enhance environmental quality.

Infrastructure enhancements will feature a 23 km rainwater drainage network and a 6 km treated sewage effluent network for irrigation, spanning 171,650 square meters. The project also includes 15 km of additional drainage systems.

Spanning an area bordered by Al Dawakhil Street, National Day Ceremonial Road, and Al Khor Road, the project covers approximately 600,000 square meters. To manage construction effectively and minimize disruption, the work is divided into three geographical zones, with sequential implementation and measures to maintain traffic flow.
