Gloucestershire:British police have detained several individuals suspected of violating the Explosives Act near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, an air base utilized by US forces.

According to Qatar News Agency, a significant incident was declared, prompting the evacuation of several homes in the nearby village of Whelford. The Army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team inspected multiple vehicles, and a security cordon was established by police.

Gloucestershire Police assured the public that the situation was under control and emphasized that there was no reason for alarm. Armed officers were seen blocking access to the base's main gate, while emergency services, including police, ambulances, and fire engines, were deployed in the vicinity.

RAF Fairford, which is used by US forces, has been receiving increased attention due to its involvement in US military operations related to the Middle East conflict. The British government had permitted the US to use the base for strikes against Iranian missile sites targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The US Air Force did not comment on specific security measures but stated that its units in the UK remain vigilant and are taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of service members, civilians, contractors, and their families. The Air Force continued that it regularly evaluates various factors to determine appropriate security measures for its facilities and personnel.
