Arab League Council Demands Implementation of Gaza Ceasefire and Condemns Israeli Actions

Doha: The Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level has called for the completion of all phases of the Gaza Strip ceasefire agreement from the 2025 Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025), while praising the efforts of Qatar and Egypt in halting Israeli aggression against Palestinians.

According to Qatar News Agency, the resolutions issued at the 166th regular session of the Council, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, emphasized the need for the full implementation of all provisions of US President Donald Trump's plan. The Council urged all parties to fulfill their obligations under the plan to end Israeli aggression, reconstruct the Gaza Strip, and ensure the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and independence.

The Council strongly condemned Israel's actions, which it labeled as war crimes and crimes against humanity, including genocide, starvation, and siege tactics against Palestinians in Gaza. It also criticized Israeli policies in the West Bank, including settlement expansion and terrorism support by settler gangs.

The Council called on the UN Security Council to enforce Resolution 2334 (2016) and hold Israel accountable for its illegal settlement activities. It condemned Israel's plans to annex West Bank territories, considering such actions a war crime and a threat to international peace and security.

The Council reaffirmed its rejection of any displacement of Palestinians and the separation of Gaza from the West Bank. It urged international efforts to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories within the 1967 borders and called for compensation for damages caused by the occupation.

In addition, the Council condemned unlawful Iranian attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council states, Jordan, and Iraq, calling for international cooperation to ensure maritime security. It also condemned Israeli incursions into Syrian territory and violations of agreements and international law, affirming solidarity with Syria and Lebanon.

The Council further supported Lebanon's demands for Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories and emphasized the importance of sustaining aid to UNRWA. It expressed solidarity with Yemen and condemned Iranian violations of its sovereignty.

Ultimately, the Council reiterated its commitment to joint Arab defense mechanisms and international resolutions to protect Arab national security and achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
