Arab League Calls for Unity and Dialogue in Sudan Amid Ongoing Conflict.

Cairo: The Arab League has emphasized the critical need to maintain the unity of the Republic of Sudan, protect its sovereignty, and ensure the integrity of its territories and national institutions. The organization has urged for a comprehensive Sudanese national dialogue that is inclusive and free from foreign interference in Sudanese affairs. According to Qatar News Agency, this call to action was highlighted during a meeting between Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, and Ramtane Lamamra, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Sudan. The meeting took place at the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo. The discussions centered around the current situation in Sudan, particularly the ongoing war and its severe humanitarian impacts. Emphasis was placed on the need for international and regional cooperation to cease hostilities and alleviate the humanitarian and food crises affecting the Sudanese population. The UN envoy provided a briefing on the military developments within Sudan and outlined his forthcoming efforts aimed at reconciling the differing factions in the country. He stressed the significance of bolstering collaboration with the Arab League, especially in light of the initiative launched by Aboul Gheit in July, which seeks to align international and regional stances on the Sudanese crisis.
