Cairo: Secretary General of the League of Arab States Nabil Fahmy met with Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi to discuss a number of Arab and regional issues of mutual concern, in light of the rapidly evolving situation in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Arab League disclosed that the meeting focused on the latest regional developments, especially those affecting the security and stability of the Gulf states and their implications for Arab national security. The discussions also addressed several priority Arab issues, exploring ways to enhance coordination and integration between the Arab League and the GCC. The leaders discussed prospects for developing cooperation between the two secretariats and strengthening consultation and coordination mechanisms in the coming period, aimed at advancing joint Arab action and unifying efforts in confronting current regional challenges.
Both sides highlighted the importance of ongoing consultation and coordination to consolidate the unified Arab position on pressing issues and challenges. They reiterated their commitment to supporting efforts to maintain security and stability and to safeguard Arab interests.
