Arab FMs stress importance of immediate halt of Israeli war against Gaza

The Council of Arab Foreign Ministers at the Arab League, during its extraordinary session held in Cairo, stressed the importance of halting the Israeli war on Gaza.The Arab foreign ministers called on all stakeholders to exercise self-restraint, preserving the security and stability of the Middle East region and working with the international community to launch and effective and urgent move to achieve these steps.During the extraordinary session which was chaired by Morocco, the Arab top diplomats condemned the killing of civilians from both sides and stressed the need of protecting civilians in accordance with human values and international law.They stressed the need to lift the siege on the Gaza Strip, and immediately allow the entry of humanitarian aid, food and fuel into the besieged enclave.They also stressed the need of supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to enable the agency to deal with the challenges in this delicate situation.They warned of any attempts to transfer th
e Palestinians outside their lands, stressing the need to support the stability of the Palestinian people on their land.The foreign ministers stressed that Israel, as the occupying power, should comply with its obligations under international law, halt its illegal measures which undermine the two-state solution.The establishment of an independent Palestinian state on June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in peace side by side with Israel on the basis of the two-state solution, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and Arab Peace Initiative, is the only way to achieve just and lasting peace in the Middle East region, the foreign ministers stressed.They also stressed support for the Palestinian National Authority politically, economically and financially.
