A Royal Jordanian Airlines flight from Paris landed at King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba on Wednesday evening, bringing 176 French tourists on the Paris-Amman-Aqaba route, and marking a step forward in reviving Jordan's tourism sector despite regional challenges. Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), highlighted the strategic importance of attracting more flights for tourism purposes, particularly in light of the ongoing regional unrest, including the aggression on Gaza. He emphasized that the arrival of tourists to Aqaba and their visits to the Kingdom's historical and archaeological sites will play a vital role in supporting the tourism industry and boosting the national economy. Arabiyat also pointed out the success of Jordan's tourism marketing efforts, which are expected to increase the influx of tourists. He further acknowledged the government's role in supporting charter flights by offering tax exemptions and subsidies to low-cost and regular flights op erating out of King Hussein International Airport. Hamza Al-Haj Hassan, Deputy Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and Commissioner of Economy and Tourism, reaffirmed ASEZA's commitment to promoting Aqaba, especially during the winter season. He mentioned efforts to organize cultural festivals, water sports events, and partnerships with airlines to draw more tourists. Highlighting the importance of the French market, he cited ASEZA's participation in international exhibitions, such as the recent IFTM Top Resa in Paris. Fadi Abu Areish, CEO of Al-Thuraya Tourism and Travel Company, noted the increase in charter flights to Aqaba, a result of JTB's targeted support and marketing efforts abroad.
