Al Raya Denounces Israeli Ban on UNRWA.

Doha: Al Raya newspaper has voiced strong criticism against the Israeli occupation’s continued neglect of international laws and agreements, alongside its increasing acts of violence such as killings and the forced displacement of Palestinians. The newspaper has urged for a cohesive regional and international effort to put an end to the severe aggression faced by the Palestinian people.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Raya’s editorial titled “Israeli Ban on UNRWA: A Dangerous Precedent” condemned the occupation authorities for their allegations against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), accusing its employees of having ties to Palestinian resistance. The newspaper highlighted that these claims have been refuted globally, leading many countries to restore their funding to the UN agency. In response, the occupation authorities have restricted UNRWA’s activities, a move that endangers the lives of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, particularly in Gaza.

Al Raya stressed that approximate
ly 90,000 Palestinians are employed by UNRWA, which plays a crucial role in providing humanitarian, medical, and educational services. The newspaper defended UNRWA’s purpose as purely humanitarian. Furthermore, it referenced the State of Qatar’s denunciation of Israel’s ban on UNRWA operations in the occupied territories, describing it as a dangerous precedent against the United Nations and multilateral diplomacy. This ban is part of an ongoing campaign of systematic oppression and genocide aimed at undermining a vital humanitarian organization.

The newspaper emphasized the global consensus that the occupation’s systematic targeting of UNRWA represents a desperate attempt to isolate Palestinians and cut off a vital lifeline in the occupied territories. Al Raya warned that Palestinians in Gaza, already enduring dire conditions due to over a year of relentless aggression, will face exacerbated hardships as a result of these oppressive policies, leading to severe humanitarian and political ramifications.

In co
nclusion, Al Raya underscored UNRWA’s founding mission, established by international mandate, to provide assistance to Palestinians displaced by occupation and subjected to poverty, hunger, and deprivation. Instead of facing consequences for its actions, Israel is intensifying its violent campaign against Palestinians, targeting all aspects of their existence and connection to their homeland.
