Al-Lami praises, during his meeting with the Egyptian press and media delegation, the participation of President Sisi in the Baghdad Summit for Cooperation and Partnership

Baghdad The Head of the Arab Journalists Union, the Head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Moayyad Al-Lami, praised the participation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in the Baghdad Summit for Cooperation and Partnership.

In statements to the Egyptian press and media delegation that came to Baghdad and included Chairman of the Supreme Media Council Karam Gabr, editors-in-chief of the Middle East News Agency, Al-Ahram, Al-Akhbar and Al-Jumhouria: “This participation reflects Egypt’s great interest in supporting Iraq as a sister country, and providing the necessary assistance to overcome all economic challenges and security in the country.

He noted that Cairo’s support for Baghdad is increasing in value, especially in Mesopotamia’s war on terrorism and restoring security and stability.

Al-Lami stressed that President Sisi’s visit to Iraq, and his meeting with President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, reflect the great role of Cairo in supporting Baghdad, through bilateral relations or through the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Iraq, Egypt and the Kingdom of Jordan, indicating that this will contribute to building a strategic partnership among the three countries, based on integration and the achievement of common development goals.

He added that Iraq stressed, through President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, the importance of benefiting from the inspiring Egyptian success experience in building state institutions, achieving sustainable development and national projects, and transferring them to Iraq, especially in the field of infrastructure and electric power, as well as strengthening areas of economic and commercial cooperation and investment.

Al-Lami praised the Egyptian role in support of Iraq, especially with regard to confronting common challenges, foremost of which is combating terrorism and achieving security, stability and development.

He explained that the convening of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership with the participation of the leaders of Egypt, France, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Turkey confirms that Iraq has begun to recover and is looking for the best relations with the countries of the world based on the foundations of cooperation, integration, non-interference in internal affairs, and the prevailing language of dialogue, partnerships and mutual respect..

Al-Lami said that terrorism represents a common danger to everyone, and Iraq refuses to use its lands as an arena for conflicts, noting that this conference is a new station on the road to achieving the aspirations of the peoples of the region and moving towards a future worthy of Iraq’s history.

He pointed out that the participants in the conference expressed their support for the Iraqi government and people, and stressed the need to unify regional and international efforts in a way that would reflect positively on the stability and security of the region.

Al-Lami pointed out that Iraq has received messages of support from Arab and foreign heads of state based on cooperation and common denominators, to ensure the security and stability of the region and to increase coordination in various fields to serve the interests of peoples and their aspirations towards prosperity.

He added that the participants welcomed the tireless Iraqi diplomatic efforts to reach common ground with the regional and international surroundings in order to strengthen political, economic and security partnerships, adopt constructive dialogue and consolidate understandings on the basis of common interests and support Iraq’s efforts to request international oversight to ensure the integrity and transparency of the expected voting process.

Al-Lami said that the participants recognized that the region faces common challenges that require the countries of the region to deal with it on the basis of joint cooperation and mutual interests and in accordance with the principles of good neighborliness, non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and respect for national sovereignty, and they commended Iraq’s efforts and great sacrifices in its war on terrorism with the help of the international coalition, brothers and friends to achieve victory, they welcomed the development of Iraq’s military and security capabilities in a way that contributes to consolidating and strengthening security in the region, renewing their rejection of all types and forms of terrorism and extremist ideology.

He added that the attendees valued the efforts of the Iraqi government in the context of achieving economic reform in a way that secures sending positive messages that encourage investment in various sectors, benefit everyone, create an appropriate economic environment, and enhance the process of sustainable development and job creation.

He explained that the participants affirmed support for the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Iraq in reconstruction, provision of services, infrastructure support and strengthening the role of the private sector, as well as its efforts in dealing with the file of the displaced and ensuring the voluntary and dignified return to their areas after turning the page on terrorism.
