Doha-Qatar | Al-Arabi and Al-Duhail were crowned champions of the U-19 and U-17 Cups respectively, after defeating the other in the finals to lift the titles for the 2021-22 season.
The crowning ceremony for the victorious Al-Arabi U-19 team came immediately after the end of the match, in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Thani, member of the Executive Office of the Qatar Football Association, Sheikh Tamim bin Fahd Al Thani, President of Al Arabi, and Captain Majid Al Sayegh, the former player of our national team and Al Arabi.
The ceremonies began with honoring the referees of the match and the referee observer, which was followed by the presentation of the silver medals to the runners-up Al Duhail, and then the gold medals and the championship trophy to Al Arabi.
U-19 final
During the U-19 Cup final that took place at the Aspire Dome, Al Arabi claimed the title at the expense of Al Duhail, after settling the game on penalties, with a 3-2 victory. Normal time had ended with the two teams tied in a goalless stalemate.
Al Arabi goalkeeper Amir Hassan played the biggest role in his team’s victory after saving two penalty kicks and scoring the decisive kick that secured the trophy.
The match was intense and exciting, and Al Duhail dominated for most of it, being the more dangerous side and creating more opportunities, while Al Arabi focused on an organised defense and counter-attacks.
It was a spirited game which witnessed referee Khaled Al-Nabet booking several players, including handing out a red card to Al-Arabi’s Abdulaziz Al-Nuaimi in injury time.
U-17 final
Meanwhile, Al-Duhail lifted the U-17 Cup following their 2-0 victory over Al-Arabi in the final game which was also held at Aspire Dome.
Younis Mohammed and Abdul Aziz Al-Hamad scored the goals for Al-Duhail.

As for the match, the two teams exchanged control during its two halves, with Al Arabi having the upper hand for most of the first half, without being able to translate their superiority into goals, before Al Duhail succeeded in scoring the first goal.
In the second half, Al Arabi tried to equalise, but their attempts did not pose a threat to Al Duhail, which seemed the more dangerous team and indeed they went on to extend their lead with the second goal.
