Agreement signed to train 100 Iraqis in occupational safety and health

Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) Director General Ahmed Gharaibeh and Wakui Junji, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) office in Jordan, on Monday signed a cooperation agreement to train 100 Iraqi trainers in Occupational safety and health (OSH). Under the agreement, the VTC will train 100 trainers from the Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the National Center for Occupational Safety and Health and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Gharaibeh said the corporation is keen on achieving local and global partnerships that contribute to the development of its training system, and to benefit from the expertise of its cadres to develop its training programs in line with the requirements of the local and international labor market. Junji praised the effective role of the VTC in raising the efficiency of workers in various fields, especially occupational safety and health. The training course, which comes within the capacity-building program for Iraqi trainers, begins in October at the VTC’s Occupational Safety and Health Institute at the end of which a trainer obtains an OSH certificate of competency.
