5th Jordan International Date Palm Festival to kick off next November-Hneifat

The 5th Jordan International Date Palm Festival will be held in the capital, Amman, during next November 13-15, Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, announced on Monday.

Organized in cooperation with Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation (KIAAI), and the Jordanian Dates Association (JODA), the festival is held with support of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Court .

In a press conference in Amman, Hneifat lauded efforts of all concerned stakeholders to develop Jordanian date palm sector, expressing thanks for His Highness Sheikh Mansour’s support, follow-up of KIAAI Chairman of Board of Trustees and UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, and efforts of KIAAI General Secretariat, in organizing this festival, for five consecutive years.

In presence of Chargé d’Affaires of the UAE Embassy to Jordan, Hani Bin Hoyden, and a number of representatives of regional and international organizations in Jordan, Hneifat said this festival is a continuation of the Jordan-UAE partnership policy, thanks to their wise leaderships, and their efforts to strengthen “strong” relations over the past five years between Jordan’s Ministry of Agriculture and KIAAI.

The minister also commended KIAAI’s role in launching and developing this global festival, which highlighted achievements of Jordanian date sector, drew participants’ admiration and appreciation and and constituted a “role model” for various productive sectors.

For his part, KIAAI Secretary-General, Dr. Abdul Wahhab Zayed, lauded His Highness Sheikh Mansour’s efforts to organize the festival, indicating that more than 60 farmers, producers, and dates exporters, representing 5 Arab countries, are scheduled to take part in its fifth edition.
