A 5-magnitude earthquake struck the Tonga Islands in the South Pacific Ocean Thursday.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the quake occurred 125 km from the village of Hihifu at a depth of 52.4 kilometers.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake.

Tonga is an archipelago of 176 scattered islands in the South Pacific Ocean, of which only 52 are inhabited, located in northwest New Zealand and Australia.
