An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale struck the South Sandwich Islands, a British overseas in the South Atlantic Ocean.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Center reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 147 kilometers.
So far, there have been no reports of material or human damage resulting from the earthquake.
The South Sandwich Islands are an archipelago that is part of the South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, an overseas territory of the UK.
