5.5-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Eastern El Salvador

An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the richter scale struck southeastern el salvador on thursday: The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 56.8 kilometers, approximately 69 kilometers west of the town of Chirilagua.

According to Qatar News Agency, no casualties or damage have been reported so far. El Salvador was previously struck by a devastating 7.6 magnitude earthquake in 2001, which killed hundreds and displaced thousands.
