4.2 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Southern Italy

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake an earthquake hit southern Italy.

The Italian Geophysics and Volcanology Institute (INGV) said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of about three kilometers in the Phlegraine fields, which is an area of high volcanic activity, and a few kilometers from the center of Naples.

There have been no reports so far of any material or human losses.

Italy has witnessed devastating earthquakes in previous years, such as the August 2016 earthquake in Amatrice in central Italy and the surrounding area, which killed 299 people.
