24th Gulf Engineering Forum Begins in Doha

Doha, March 07 (QNA) – The 24th Gulf Engineering Forum, organized by Ministry of Municipality, the Gulf Engineering Union and the Qatar Society of Engineers, started Tuesday under the title “Environmental Engineering and Sustainability”.

Senior officials from the State of Qatar and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) along with the secretary-general of the Federation of Arab Engineers, heads of Gulf engineering associations and authorities and a lineup of experts from the GCC countries.

Secretary-General of the Gulf Engineering Union Eng. Mohamed Ali Al Khozaae said that the 24th Gulf Engineering Forum marks 25 years since the Gulf Engineering Union was established in the State of Kuwait in 1997 with concerted efforts by all engineering bodies in the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States. He extended greetings all Gulf engineers on the occasion of the Union’s silver jubilee.

Al Khozaae referred to the great attention that the State of Qatar attaches to environment sustainability, citing the success in organizing the 2022 World Cup, where buildings, stadiums and other facilities were built with the latest sustainable environmental engineering methods, taking into account, at all stages of planning, construction and operation, environmental considerations, resource efficiency, rational energy management and integrated waste management programmes.

For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Society of Engineers, Eng. Khalid Ahmed Al Nasr said that the 24th Gulf Engineering Forum will be held over three days where five discussion panels will be dealing with 25 work papers, revolving around four main axes, these are technology and smart cities; sustainable building materials; efficient management of buildings and cities; recycling industry.
