22nd Amman International Book Fair to Launch Thursday with Qatar as Guest of Honor

Qatar will participate as a guest of honor in the 22nd Amman International Book Fair, which will convene from Thursday until September 30.

The Ministry of Culture (MoC) stated that Qatar’s participation comes within the framework of enhancing cultural and intellectual communication.

Qatari publishing houses participating in the 22nd Amman International Book Fair include Dar Nabja, Dar Al Watad and Roza.

Director of the MoC’s Libraries Department and Director of the Doha International Book Fair Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain said that the MoC holds Qatar’s participation in the fair in high regard.

He explained that the Ministry’s pavilion will have a design inspired by Qatar’s traditional architecture where the MoC’s intellectual work will be displayed.

Participation will also include cultural events, poetry evenings, theater performances, seminars about publishing in Qatar, a cultural symposium on novels, as well as a symposium on Qatari heritage.

Al Buainain added that Qatar’s participation aims to build new relationships with those working in the field of culture and publishing, presenting Qatari intellectual works to Qatari publishing houses, in addition to holding meetings with exhibition officials and Jordanian publishing houses to discuss aspects of cooperation in authorship, translation and publishing.

The MoC’s participation will include displaying the Ministry’s novels, children’s books and young adult books, in addition to other publications in various fields such as law, social sciences and humanities.
