Spain: Spain and Cape Verde drew 0-0 in Group H's opening match on Monday, in the FIFA World Cup 2026, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. According to Qatar News Agency, Cape Verde held Spain to a draw and prevented them from finding the net through a disciplined defensive performance that shut down the Spanish attackers. Cape Verde's goalkeeper, Vozinha gave an outstanding performance, making more than six crucial saves. On the other hand, Spain delivered a high-quality performance, displaying excellent skill, ball possession, and sustained attacking play from both flanks and through the center. However, Spain were unable to convert their chances and had to settle for a single point. Cape Verde is one of four nations making their World Cup debut, alongside Curacao, Jordan, and Uzbekistan. Earning a point from their group opener places Cape Verde among the early surprise teams of the tournament. Spain will face Saudi Arabia on Sunday in the second round of group matches, while Cape Verde will take on Uruguay.
