Doha: Today, Cultural Village Foundation, "Katara" hosted a rowing competition at Katara's beach as part of the 14th Katara Traditional Dhow Festival. The event saw the participation of 14 teams, each consisting of 12 participants. According to Qatar News Agency, the rowing competition is one of the festival's key highlights, celebrating both sports and cultural heritage, with a focus on preserving Qatar's maritime traditions and showcasing traditional sports. Katara Publishing House is presenting a collection of books that explore the cultural significance of traditional dhows and the maritime history of Qatar and the Gulf, alongside literary works inspired by this heritage. Qatari photographer and visual artist Moza Al Hajri is taking part in the festival for the fifth time, exhibiting a collection of her photography and visual arts inspired by the festival's atmosphere and Qatar's maritime traditions. She praised Katara's efforts in preserving Qatari heritage and promoting its cultural and artistic val ues. Al Hajri also commended the festival's diverse activities, excellent organization, and the opportunity it provides for visitors to explore various pavilions, exhibitions, and live performances in a relaxed and welcoming environment. She noted that the festival offers a unique opportunity to learn about the maritime heritage of the Gulf and beyond, while also offering a chance to discover Qatar's rich cultural legacy. Her display includes a large collection of traditional photographs, some taken outside the festival, while others were captured during past editions of the event. She also showcased maritime-themed artifacts, highlighting their design and craftsmanship.
