116 Martyrs’ Bodies Recovered after Israeli Army Withdraws from Some Areas of Gaza Strip

Gaza: Sources in the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip said that medical and civil defense teams recovered the bodies of 116 martyrs and transferred them to hospitals, following the Israeli occupation army’s withdrawal from some areas in the Strip. Field teams are still working to recover dozens of other bodies from under the rubble of homes and roads.

According to Qatar News Agency, the sources told a correspondent that the largest number of bodies, approximately 80, were recovered from Gaza City. Civil defense teams were able to reach them in the neighborhoods of Al Zeitoun, Al Sabra, Tal Al Hawa, Sheikh Radwan, Al Shati refugee camp, and near the Netzarim area.

The sources noted that the numbers are increasing due to the intensity of shelling and airstrikes on homes in Gaza City during the last week of the Israeli army’s operation in the city, the inability of the Civil Defense to reach the targeted areas, and the presence of families and martyrs in the bombed homes, whose whereabouts are currently unknown.

In the same context, medical sources reported that two people were martyred in an Israeli shelling targeting a residential area near Hamad City, north of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip. A girl was also injured by an Israeli army bullet in the same area.

Local sources said that some shelling and gunfire by the Israeli army occurred in several areas of the Strip, despite its announcement this afternoon of the ceasefire taking effect and its withdrawal from populated areas.

The death toll in the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has risen to 67,211 martyrs and 169,961 wounded since October 7, 2023.

Last night, the Israeli occupation government ratified the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip reached in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
