QU-HEALTH TO HOLD THE FIRST ANNUAL CHILD NUTRITION CONFERENCE

Titled: Advances in Child Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle

QU-HEALTH and the human nutrition department will be organizing the first annual Child Nutrition, Titled: Advances in Child Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle. This will be the first of its kind two-day long conference in the region to be held on 7 and 8 September 2022 at Ibn Al-Bitar Building at Qatar University.

The conference aims to expand the exchange of experiences, provide opportunities for knowledge and research participation, approach perspectives, and update and develop knowledge, practice, and nutritional concepts of a changing nature with the change of time. The conference will attract the most prominent doctors, researchers and academics, with the aim of providing a rich program of educational sessions and lectures centered child nutrition research and modern methods and approaches, it is thought to host 300 attendees from across the world and the region.

Around 40% of children are overweight or obese, and research shows that they are likely to stay that way or get worse. The dramatic changes that have been ensued during COVID 19 in pediatric nutrition and lifestyle behavior will be addressed through presenting the most recent studies conducted in this field. Metabolic disorders are diseases that cannot be prevented but can be managed firstly by diet and then by medications. The conference focus on the most prevalent metabolic disorders in Qatar and other nearby countries. Another intended purpose of this conference is to improve the presentation and communication skills of the nutrition students and junior dietitians and to engage them in high-level debates and refine their research and practice background and ideas.

Moreover, the audience will be able to hear from the academic professionals and be able to address their ideas and questions directly. Researchers and scientists from Arabic countries, Canada, and Europe will be invited to present their talk at this conference to enrich the scientific content of the conference.

Therefore, the conference will highlight children’s dietary habits that changed during COVID-19 pandemic. It will also describe the main consequences of COVID-19 on pediatrics’ health and nutritional status, and will assess nutrition Polices and Strategies to Improve Pediatric Health by presenting the recent researches and polices about breastfeeding.
