Qatar, Turkiye Enjoy Close Strategic Relations in Various Fields, Says Turkish Trade Minister

HE Turkish Minister of Trade Omer Bolat praised the distinguished relations between Qatar and Turkiye, noting that these close strategic relations cover all fields, especially the economic and commercial spheres. He expressed his hope for further development of the relations between the two countries.

He was speaking during the Qatar-Turkiye Business Forum that was held today. The forum reviewed cooperation relations between Qatar and Turkiye, investment climate, and the most important sectors in which businessmen from both sides can invest, in addition to the most important investment opportunities available.

The Turkish Minister of Trade indicated that there are 720 Turkish firms working in Qatar in various fields, and about 120 Qatari firms operating in Turkiye and have successful investments, noting that the good relations between the leadership of both countries contributed to the development of trade and investment cooperation between them.

He congratulated Qatar for hosting the 2023 Doha Horticu
lture Expo, noting that there are 150 Turkish businessmen participating in the Turkish pavilion to review vistas of cooperation with their Qatari counterparts. He reviewed the prospects for cooperation between companies from both sides.

For his part, HE QC First Vice-chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari said that the two countries’ bilateral trade volume reached QR 8.1 billion in 2022, compared with QR 6.8 billion in 2021, showing an 18 percent increase, making Turkiye one of Qatar’s most significant trading partners.

Al Kuwari attributed this surge to the developed relations between both countries, especially with the presence of direct maritime lines, a number of signed agreements and the abundance of mutual investments on both sides, adding that there are many Turkish companies operating in Qatar across various sectors and there are many Qatar investments in Turkiye in diverse of sectors like real estate and tourism and others.

He also emphasized that Qatar Chamber supports cooperation and part
nership between both sides to further increase trade between both countries, calling on Qatari business owners to learn about the investment opportunities available in Turkiye. He also invited Turkish companies to invest in Qatar, which provides an attractive investment environment, advanced infrastructure, as well as incentives and facilities granted by the government to foreign investors.

HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater attended the Qatar-Turkiye Business Forum.
