Al Khouri highlighted the exhibition’s recycled and environmentally friendly facilities – a message directed to school students and the public to support sustainability.
He also highlighted the measures taken in line with hosting standards and global agricultural requirements and ongoing coordination with the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), which indicates that the world is awaiting a big event.
Expo Doha 2023 would contribute to reducing the costs of irrigation and agriculture, and make road maintenance and beautification operations, especially those that extend for tens of kilometers, less expensive, to use the money in increasing greenery of Qatar’s native water-consuming florae, Al Khouri added.
He added that Al Bidda Park, in Central Doha overlooking the Corniche, was selected as a venue for the event for its geographical privilege and facilities. The park is surrounded by green spaces and equipped with underground parking, two nearby Doha Metro stations, and direct bus routes from the
Hamad International Airport (HIA).
Commenting on the timings of the exhibition, Al Khouri said that the activities would currently start after sunset due to the relatively hot weather, and continue throughout the day during the relatively moderate fall and winter. The mid-term exam period in October and the coincidence of the last two weeks of the exhibition with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan have been taken into account, he said.
He urged all Qatari participating parties to join hands and make efforts to make this global event a success, extending invitations to everyone to participate. He added that 2,500 volunteers of different nationalities, who are now receiving daily training, were selected out of 50,000 applicants.
Al Khouri stressed that the Qatari national identity would be present in Expo Doha 2023 as it was in all previous events hosted by Qatar with participation from other countries, since it is a global event that concerns the entire world.
He added that a scientific committee was
now scrutinizing an array of submitted Qatari innovations, especially with the event serving as a platform to showcase such innovations. (QNA)
