Arab, Islamic, international countries, organizations react to Israel’s invasion of Rafah, 2nd add

Mattarella stressed the need to stop the massacres and atrocities in Gaza and reach a lasting peace that respects the common goal of full and mutual recognition of two Palestinian and Israeli states, stressing that international human rights law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, which protects the civilian population even in the most severe conflicts, cannot be violated, and called for focusing on the central role of UNRWA and continuing to fund its activities and programs.

“We are now required to respond to the moral imperative to alleviate the immense suffering in the Gaza Strip and not allow the situation to deteriorate further,” Mattarella added.

For his part, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said that “the Israeli action in Rafah gives us very great concern,” and called on Israel to reverse it.

He added in televised remarks on Tuesday: “The attack on Rafah means the transfer of 1.5 million people to an unknown place,” According to AKI, Italian news agency.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperati
on (OIC) strongly condemned the escalation of the criminal aggression launched by the Israeli occupation forces against the Gaza Strip, and the expansion of its scope by invading the city of Rafah, which is home to about 1.3 million displaced Palestinians, which constitutes a continuation of committing the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and an attempt to displace Palestinians from their land, in flagrant violation of all international resolutions and precautionary measures approved by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The OIC also condemned the threats made by the Israeli Prime Minister and his intention to continue and expand the crime of Israeli military aggression on the city of Rafah with or without a ceasefire agreement, which confirms his rejection of all UN resolutions and efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
