Algerian Minister of Health to QNA: Tomorrow Sees Signing of Final Contract of Qatari-Algerian-German Hospital Project

HE Algerian Minister of Health Abdelhak Saihi has revealed that the parties involved in the Qatari-Algerian-German Hospital project will sign the final contract tomorrow, Thursday, marking the commencement of the implementation phase after the completion of the last round of discussions and consultations.

In a special statement to the Qatar News Agency , he said that once the contract is signed between the Qatari holding company and the Algerian authorities, the organization responsible for carrying out and constructing the project will be set up in the following weeks, pending the completion of administrative formalities. He characterized this endeavor as a shining instance of vibrant investment that will contribute to the advancement of the Algerian economy.

He also said that the Algerian Ministry of Finance has supplied comprehensive assurances for this substantial investment, which is now primed for implementation. This represents a triumphant illustration that spans across various sectors and intro
duces a fresh dimension to economic activities within Algeria.

Regarding the key features of this hospital, the Algerian Health Minister stated that the hospital will rely on a medical team comprising German and Algerian professionals. It will be built on an area of 100,000 square meters with a capacity of 400 beds. Furthermore, it will be managed privately and will not fall under the supervision of the Algerian Ministry of Health.

He went on to explain that the hospital will open up employment prospects for more than 1,500 Algerians and, in addition, will foster economic vitality by forming partnerships with transportation, catering, security, and cleaning companies. What’s more, it will offer specialized medical services that are presently unavailable in Algeria, including pediatric cardiac surgery, organ transplants, and fields related to heart conditions and diabetes. He noted that the hospital will also be equipped with highly advanced medical facilities, including 40 intensive care beds and 60 beds fo
r heart patients.

The Algerian Health Minister pointed out that the hospital could have a regional and international significance by attracting patients from neighboring countries for treatment.

Regarding the project’s timeline, the Minister affirmed that partial activities will be handed over after one year, with final delivery expected within a maximum of two years.

It’s worth noting that the Qatari holding company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Directorate of Health and Population for the Algerian province of Algiers in October 2022 to establish the Qatari-Algerian-German Hospital through its specialized healthcare company, Elegancia Healthcare.
