0061-Interior-Ministry-Holds-Workshop-on-Role-of-Imams,-Preachers-in-Bolstering-Family-Security

Doha, Under the patronage of HE Minister of Interior and Commander of Lekhwiya Force Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, a workshop kicked off on Monday at the Officers Club of the General Directorate of Civil Defense on the role of Imams and preachers in promoting values among young people and maintaining ties and family security.

The three-day workshop was inaugurated in the presence of HE Director of Public Security Maj. Gen. Abdullah Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary for Da’wah and Mosques Affairs Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwari, alongside officials from the two sides.

The event brought together over 250 preachers and Imams of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs and is primarily intended to clarify the notion and functions of the community police for Imams and preachers, as well as the role of police in handling societal and behavioral problems and putting the spotlight on the importance of family security and its impact on family and the community in general.

The
workshop also aims to clarify the methods of activating parental surveillance and, the consequences of the lack of this role on family structure, in addition to highlighting the integration of roles, its impact in stabilizing the family, and clarifying the adverse impact of the internet and social media on young people.

In his inaugural remarks before the workshop, Director of the Community Police Department, Brig. Gen. Dr Ibrahim Mohammad Al Samih, said young people are the segments most vulnerable to damages that disintegrate values, lauding the role of Imams and preachers in reforming the community, maintaining its equilibrium, and guiding it towards understanding the methods of handling the modern challenges that affect families.

He underscored the significance of the workshop whose themes are focused on avenues to preserve family bonds, guidance, and awareness, promote moral behavior, identify the purview of the community police in communicating with individuals to support the role of the Ministry of I
nterior (MoI) in addressing social problems to preemptively protect people from crimes, propagate the affirmative values, as well as fight harmful tenets in coordination with the relevant entities.

The director of the Community Police Department pointed out that the department is permanently seeking to propagate and promote the culture of joint responsibility among community individuals, along with their critical role in addressing social and behavioral problems and prevention of crimes in alignment with MoI’s strategy of maintaining security and stability, as well as reduce crime ratings for a secure, stable and prosperous community.

The lectures of the aforementioned workshop were addressed by the family and adolescence consultant from the State of Kuwait, Dr. Hammoud Fahd Al Qashaan, in which he highlighted the values, moderation, and centrism, along with their role in addressing societal and behavioral problems and the significance of partnership with the community police. The second lecture broadly foc
used on the role of Imams in bolstering the work of community police.

Islamic Affairs Expert and Family and Educational Advisor at the Ministry of Endowments, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Qader Al Farjabi delivered a lecture on Dawah skills in dealing with community issues, whilst information security specialist at the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), Jassim Abdul Rahman Al Saadi delivered a lecture on cyber-attacks, their perils on families and young people and methods of protection.

In his lecture, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammad Al Samih shed light on the MoI’s strategy for community police, along with its vision, mission, and notions, as well as consolidating its function and clarifying its role in Islamic civilization.
