President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Khalil Al-Hajj Tawfiq, has emphasized the significance of fostering economic cooperation between the private sectors of Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
The statement was made during a meeting with Hassan Al-Huwaizi, the Chairman of the Saudi Federation of Chambers of Commerce, held on the sidelines of the 10th Arab-Chinese Businessmen Conference. Al-Hajj Tawfiq expressed his hope that the economic relationship between Jordan and Saudi Arabia would serve as a model that aligns with the aspirations of both nations.
He called for the establishment of a twinning program between the JCC and the Saudi Federation of Chambers of Commerce, underlining the necessity of transforming the Jordanian-Saudi relationship into genuine partnerships based on mutual benefits. Al-Hajj Tawfiq further stated, “Providing employment opportunities for the youth is not only a national obligation but also a professional duty.” He stressed that achieving this objective requires the implementation of new projects and the exploration of fresh investment opportunities.
In a JCC statement released on Tuesday, Al-Hajj Tawfiq highlighted the importance of moving towards a new phase in the bilateral relations between Jordan and Saudi Arabia, leveraging the promising prospects for expanding trade and investment cooperation. He disclosed that trade exchanges between the two countries amounted to JD3.73 billion in 2022, with Jordanian exports reaching JD840 million.
Moreover, Al-Hajj Tawfiq emphasized the need for synergy between the economic visions of Jordan and Saudi Arabia to serve their common interests. This includes increasing bilateral trade, fostering collaboration between the private sectors of both countries, and advocating for the establishment of new partnerships and the expansion of areas of cooperation. He also emphasized the significance of agreeing on investments that contribute positively to sustainable development.
In response, Al-Huwaizi reiterated the commitment of the Saudi private sector to achieving common interests and enhancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation. He emphasized the importance of intensifying business visits between entrepreneurs and addressing any obstacles that impede the growth of trade exchanges
