World’s best pioneering real estate developments judged in live Dubai pitch

WAM DUBAI, 9th September, 2013 (WAM) — The masterminds behind 27 pioneering international real estate developments have been invited to present their projects to a panel of 12 judges next month in Dubai for the final judging round of one of the world’s most highly regarded property awards.

Shortlisted out of 283 nominations from 22 countries, the architects and developers of each project will compete for the ultimate accolade at the Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets, with the final winners being celebrated at a ceremony on 9th October at Dubai’s JW Marriott Marquis Hotel.

The final selection round for the awards in 2013 will be on 7th October, where finalists will have the opportunity to showcase the latest innovations in emerging real estate markets to the expert panel of judges face to face.

Comprising 12 categories, the Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets will feature alongside Cityscape Global, the Middle East’s largest and most influential international real estate event, taking place from 8th-10th October at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The shortlist of projects include property developments from China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Mozambique, Qatar, Singapore, Turkey and the UAE. The finalists also include winners from previous Cityscape Awards events within the last 12 months held in Qatar, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.

The 12 award categories include completed projects and projects that are either still in the planning or construction phase across the following sectors: Commercial ‘&’ Mixed Use Project; Leisure and Tourism Project; Community ‘&’ Culture Project; Residential Project; Retail Project; and Sustainability.

Leading the charge out of the five UAE finalists this year is the Louvre Abu Dhabi by the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), contesting both the Future Community and Culture Project category, and the Sustainability category.

On the international front, standout finalists include the Horizon Development in Mozambique by Rani Investments in the Future Commercial and Mixed Use category, along with Turkey’s Quasar Istanbul, by Viatrans and Meydanbey Joint Venture, which is contesting the Future Commercial and Mixed Use, Future Leisure ‘&’ Tourism, and Future Residential categories.

Now in its 12th edition, Cityscape Global 2013 has attracted more than 200 international and regional exhibitors covering 25,000sqm of exhibition space. The global real estate showcase has been on an upward growth curve since 2009, and will be the largest it has been in four years.
