As fans around the world celebrate the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament, Heads of State from Rwanda, Senegal, and High Level representatives from Canada, Liberia, Mexico, Qatar, and the United Kingdom together with the President of Islamic Development Bank Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, and World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, joined Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and its partners for the kick-off of the Scoring 4 the Goals campaign. Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bint Khalifa Al Thani was also present. The EAA Foundation officially launched the campaign by calling for people around the world to come together and #ActNow for the Global Goals, on the side-lines of the international football competition. With so much of our previous gains on the SDGs reversed by the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and other crisis, the tournament is an ideal time and place to show we are all on the same team to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser was joined by world leaders at EAA’s SDG pavilion, designed by Zaha Hadid architects. These structures were commissioned by EAA to be used as schools, community centres or medical centres for displaced communities, are in currently in use in Pakistan and Turkey.

Achieving the SDGs is fundamental to building a better world for all of us, and what better time to come together and do so than here and now, at this World Cup, where humanity is coming together to celebrate the Beautiful Game? Football brings people from different walks of life together to meet, discuss and unite around a common passion. We are calling on humanity to also come together as one team and score for the sustainable goals.”
The Scoring 4 the Goals campaign will run from November 21 through December 17, 2022 and will include numerous, dynamic activations with partners such as UNICEF, UNESCO, UNHCR, the Forest Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative, the World Bank, and the Islamic Development Bank. Events from the campaign include a parachute show live music performances, dialogue with world leaders, art installations, football workshops, fashion shows, and more. Fans at home will also be able to show their love of football and actions to the Sustainable Development Goals through a digital campaign that highlights how they can take part in achieving better future for all through the SDGs. The digital activations will feature contributions to the UN’s SDG app “Act Now,” which allows users to track the impact of their everyday choices on Sustainable Development, as well as access the best content from the Scoring 4 the Goals campaign on EAA’s website.
