US Stocks Close Lower

New York, – US stocks on Tuesday finished in the red in the wake of a report that the European Central Bank could start winding down its quantitative-easing program ahead of schedule.

The S&P 500 declined 10.71 points, or 0.5%, to close at 2,150.49 with all sectors, except for rate-sensitive financials, finishing lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 85.40 points, or 0.5% to end at 18,168.45. The Nasdaq Composite slipped 11.22 points, or 0.2%, to close at 5,289.66.
