US kills IS second-in-command – Pentagon

WASHINGTON, March 25 (KUNA) — The US killed the so-called Islamic State’s second-in-command and Finance Minister, Abd Al Rahman Mustafa Al Qaduli, the Pentagon announced Friday.
“We are systematically eliminating ISIL’s cabinet,” Secretary of Defense Ash Carter told reporters, “the second senior ISIL leader we’ve successfully targeted this month.” Al Qaduli, also known as Haji Imam, was a “well known terrorist within ISIL’s ranks, dating back to its earliest iteration of Al-Qaeda in Iraq,” who would have been involved in “external plots,” said Carter.
He added, “The removal of this ISIL leader will hamper the organization’s ability to conduct operations inside and outside of Syria.” Last week the US announced the death of top IS leader Abu Omar Al Shishani who was killed by a US airstrike. (end)
