US economy adds 242,000 jobs in Feb, indicating steady employment rate

WASHINGTON, March 4 (KUNA) — US economy added 242,000 jobs in February holding the unemployment rate at a low 4.9%.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday that this continued streak of job growth in the past couple of months and in February in particular is due to strong job hiring in social services, construction, retail trade and health care.
The report indicated that the mining sector continued shedding jobs losing around 170,000 jobs since September 2014, mostly in support activities for mining.
It also revised the past two months’ data adding around 30,000 more jobs in total, indicating a steadily growing U.S economy and employment market that averaged 228,000 jobs added per month for the last three. (end)
