US approves first flights to Cuba for over 50 years

WASHINGTON, June 9 (KUNA) — The US on Friday approved six domestic airlines to launch commercial flights to and from Cuba for the first time for over 50 years.
The two former Cold War adversaries signed an agreement to restore commercial air travel last February.
The move, announced by the Department of Transportation, is part of the Obama Administration’s efforts to normalize relations with Cuba and will begin as “early as this fall.” The flights will connect five US cities with 10 cities in Cuba. (end) sd.rk
