KUWAIT, June 13 (KUNA) — The United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad held a meeting Monday with senior Yemeni negotiators partaking in intra-Yemeni peace talks.
The UN envoy met the chief delegates of the government, Ansarullah Movement and the General People’s Congress to discuss the security of a number of key issues, mainly the security arrangements for maintaining the cessation of hostilities agreement, withdrawal of armed groups, handing over of weaponry and releasing of prisoners of war and detainees.
The UN envoy seeks to mediate a compromise deal among Yemeni parties to end the current crisis and help rebuild the state institutions.
He received Friday commitments from the Yemeni parties to continue serious talks in the holy month of Ramadan to reach a sustainable peaceful solution to the conflict in Yemen. (end) om.ibi
