UN Diplomats Arrive in South Sudan

Juba, – The U.N. Security Council has arrived in South Sudan after the extension of United Nations Mission and the deployment of an additional 4,000 peacekeeping force in South Sudan, The visit focuses on the council’s decision to deploy the peacekeepers with a strengthened mandate to protect civilians and strengthen cooperation with the transitional government.

The diplomats are expected to meet with President Salva Kiir and urge both sides to adhere to 2015 peace deal meant to end the country’s civil war.
