UN chief condemns Lahore terrorist bombing

NEW YORK, March 28 (KUNA) — UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for bringing swiftly to justice the perpetrators of the appalling suicide bombing that shook Pakistan yesterday.
UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters on Monday that Ban strongly condemns the suicide bombing at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in the Pakistani city of Lahore that killed at least 60 people and wounded over 100 including many women and children.
UN Chief urged the Government of Pakistan to do its utmost to put in place protective measures to ensure the personal security of all individuals, including religious minority communities living in the country consistent with human rights obligations.
Expressing UN chief’s solidarity with the people and the Government of Pakistan, Dujarric said the Secretary General extended his heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families. (end) mao.gb
