UK Economy Expands 0.1% in Q1 2023

The UK economy expanded 0.1 percent in the first quarter this year, official data showed today.

A statement from Office for National Statistics showed that GDP fell by 0.3 percent in March 2023, following an increase of 0.5 percent in January 2023 (revised up from 0.4 percent in the previous publication) and no growth in February 2023.

The services sector grew by 0.1 percent on the quarter driven by increases in information and communication, and administrative and support service activities; elsewhere, the construction sector grew by 0.7 percent while the production sector grew by 0.1 percent, with a 0.5 percent growth in manufacturing.
