UAE RCA distributes clothing to thousands of children in Albania and Bosnia

WAM TIRANA, 1st August, 2013 (WAM) — The UAE Red Crescent Authority has distributed more than ten thousand articles of clothing to underprivileged children in Albania and about 20 thousand clothing items to children in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the campaign launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to clothe one million children around the world.

On the occasion, a ceremony was held in the Albanian capital, Tirana, attended by the RCA delegation which was headed by Mohammed Yusuf Al Fahim, Deputy Secretary-General for Support Services. Also present were the Albanian Minister of Health, the Mayor of Tirana, officials from local authorities and other Albanian citizens.

In his speech, Mr. Al Fahim re-affirmed the close links between the peoples of the two countries and continuous humanitarian efforts of the United Arab Emirates to help needy refugees, orphans and widows, displaced persons and others in need.

He said that the campaign of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to clothe one million children around the world will enhance these humanitarian efforts .

For his part, the Albanian Minister of Health, Halim Kosova, hailed the UAE’s wise leadership and its people for its humanitarian role in the international arena through the generous assistance provided to the needy in various parts of the world, including Albania.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation for the assistance provided by the Red Crescent Authority to help Albanian refugees during the war in Kosovo.

The Albanian minister also thanked and praised the campaign of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to clothe one million stressing the humanitarian meaning of this campaign and its importance value.
