UAE confirms its commitment to developing partnerships with Small Island Developing States

WAM NEW YORK, 30th September, 2013 (WAM) — The UAE has stressed its commitment to developing partnerships with Small Island Developing States. The move is part of the UAE’s foreign policy approach which aims to build bridges of friendship and cooperation with various countries of the world in order to address a number of environmental, economic and developmental issues.

Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Secretary of State for International Organisation Affairs, in the presence of Ban Ki – moon, United Nations Secretary-General, hailed the efforts of the UN and its Secretary-General towards developing Small Island Developing States and the level of preparations for the next conference.

During the meeting being held on the sidelines of the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, he stressed the need for international cooperation and exchange of experiences and to identify partners with extensive experience in this vital area in addition to facilitating dialogue between those who have the knowledge and those who need it.
