UAE condemns “terrorist” attacks in Turkey, Egypt

ABU DHABI, March 20 (KUNA) — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday strongly condemned Saturday’s “terrorist” attacks in the Turkish city of Istanbul and Egypt’s North Sinai city of Al-Arish.
UAE’s foreign ministry, in a statement carried by Emirates News Agency (WAM), described the attack in Istanbul, which claimed scores of lives as a “terrorist and cowardly act.” The statement conveyed sincere condolences and sympathy to the people of Turkey, wishing swift recovery for those wounded in the attack.
Moreover, a similar statement condemned an attack that targeted a police checkpoint in the Egyptian city of Al-Arish, which killed and wounded tens of policemen.
“UAE firmly stands alongside Egypt in the fight against terrorism and extremism,” the statement said. (end) jns.nam
