Turkish schoolgirl killed by shell from Syria

ANKARA, Jan 29 (KUNA) — A Turkish female child succumbed on Friday to a fatal injury she sustained in a shelling from the Syrian side of the borders 11 days ago.
The schoolgirl was in grade seven; she was admitted into the ICU of Gaziantep University Sahinbey Hospital where she breathed her last today, medical sources of the hospital said.
The shelling which targeted a school in Kilis city, south Turkey, on January 18, also killed a female worker on the spot.
The Turkish army responded by firing 54 shells at the source of the fire from Syria on the same day.
Kilis lies nearly five km from areas controlled by the so-called Islamic State (IS) in north Syria. (end) rs.gb
