Turkey arrests some 1,000 IS suspects in '15 – statement

ANKARA, Jan 30 (KUNA) — Turkey announced Saturday it made more than 1,000 arrests of people suspected of belonging to the so-called Islamic State (IS) since early 2015.
Anti-terror forces arrested 643 while attempting to crossover Turkish borders from Syria, while another 496 were arrested attempting to go the other way, an army general staff statement noted.
This is a 90-percent rise during the last five months of 2015 compared to earlier in the same year, the statement pointed out.
Ankara was a scene of two IS-claimed suice attacks last October, which killed 103 people. (end) rs.hb
