Turkey and Qatar sign 11 new cooperation agreements

Baghdad, Turkey and Qatar signed 11 cooperation agreements to strengthen their relations in various fields.

This came at the conclusion of the eighth meeting of the Supreme Strategic Committee between the two countries, which was chaired by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Istanbul.

The agreements included a cooperation protocol in the field of media and communications, and another cooperation protocol between the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation and Qatar Television.

The two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of high-quality infrastructure between the Turkish Halal Accreditation Agency and the Qatari Ministry of Public Health, and a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of industrial property rights protection.

Ankara and Doha also signed an agreement for the mutual integration of satellite network service areas (the use of satellite technology in the field of voice and video communications, the Internet, fax, television and radio) regulated by Annex 30B of the Radio Regulations, and memoranda of understanding in the field of food security, disaster and emergency management, humanitarian aid, and construction work. In addition to an agreement on the establishment and operation of cultural centers and their activities, a cooperation protocol between the Turkish Cultural Center Yunus Emra and the Qatar Museums Authority, and a memorandum of understanding in the field of diplomatic archives.

The Foreign Ministers of the two countries, Mevlüt Çavusoglu and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, also signed the joint statement of the eighth session of the Supreme Strategic Committee between the two countries.

The Joint Higher Strategic Committee between the two countries was established in December 2014, and its meetings are held every year at the highest level, and it is a mechanism for consultation on Qatari-Turkish relations.
