World Press Photo 2014 exhibition travels to IstanbulAward-winning snapshots by photojournalists from around the world will once again adorn Forum Istanbul in the cityandrsquos BayrampaIa district when the shopping mall unveils the World Press Photo 2014 exhibition this week.Set to run until Sept.

2 in Istanbul, the World Press Photo 2014 exhibition features 140 photographs that won various prizes in eight different categories such as General News, Contemporary Issues, Daily Life, Nature and Sports in this yearandrsquos competition, the results of which were announced on Feb. 14.

This is the sixth year in a row that Forum Istanbul is hosting the annual traveling exhibition. The 2014 exhibition first opened in its hometown of Amsterdam, at De Nieuwe Kerk, on April 18, and is slated to travel to more than 100 cities in 45 countries throughout the yearDutch Consul General in Istanbul Robert Schuddeboom is expected to speak at the Istanbul exhibitionandrsquos opening ceremony, set for 7:30 pm on Tuesday.

The show will go on public display on Wednesday. French photographer William Daniels, who won second place in the General News Stories category with his work andldquoChaos in Central African Republic,andrdquo will also make introductory remarks at Tuesdayandrsquos opening event.

Launched in 1955 by the Amsterdam-based non-profit organization World Press Photo, the contest is billed as the worldandrsquos largest and most prestigious annual press photography competition. The 140 prize-winning photos in the 57th World Press Photo Contest were selected from over 98,000 submissions by more than 5,700 photographers from around the world.
