Turkish youth philharmonic begins 2014 tour in SicilyThe Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (TUGFO) kicked off its 2014 European tour last week with critically acclaimed performances at the Taormina Arte Festival in Sicily, wrapping up their summer training camp with performances that received lengthy standing ovations.The 100-piece orchestra, conducted by Cem Mansur, performed the score in three performances of the Puccini opera andldquoToscaandrdquo from Aug.

9-13 at the ancient theater of Taormina in the Sicilian seaside resort town, the orchestraandrsquos publicist announced in a press release on Tuesday.The orchestraandrsquos tour will continue in September with performances in Italy, Turkey and Germany.

The second stop for the orchestra will be the southern city of Antalya, where it will perform at the ancient theater of Aspendos on Sept. 20.

It will then head to Istanbul to perform at the Zorlu Center PSM on Sept. 23.

Following its concerts in Turkey, the orchestra will return to Italy for three more concerts in Rovigo, Rome and Milano. The orchestraandrsquos last two stops will be in Germany, where it will first perform in Bad Wrishofen and then in Berlin.

The tour will end on Oct. 6.
