TIME: Hamad International Airport among the best airports for layovers

Hamad International Airport (HIA) has been named as one of the best airports in the world for layovers, according to TIME magazine. Passengers who are connecting flights through HIA will enjoy the stunning architecture and international artworks, most notably a 23-foot bronze giant teddy bear statue in the center that sits inside a lamp as well as other internationally designed works that adorn the airport.

Passengers flying with Qatar Airways business class will get access to Al Mourjan Business Lounge in the airport, one of the largest passengers lounges worldwide. If passengers are flying first class, they can enjoy the elite exclusivity in a refined setting at Al Safwa First Lounge, the first lounge receiving “Seven Star First Class” award. In case passengers are staying a bit longer, the four-star Oryx Airport Hotel located inside the airport is the place.

HIA does not have run-of-the-mill tarmacs and terminals, it boasts luxury lounges, aquariums, gardens, pools and authentic eateries. There are also prayer rooms, a nursery, baths and shower rooms with free facilities. It also has a variety of duty-free shops and perhaps the most beautiful airport art in the world.
