KUWAIT, June 7 (KUNA) — With touches of Andalusian style, the sprawling Grand Mosque opened in 1986 during the era of the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as an authentic Islamic landmark.
Stretching on 45,000 square meters, work to build the Mosque began in 1979, as a total of 50 engineers collaborated to erect the holy compound, which blends a slew of architectural styles, augmented by local design.
The Mosque features three spaces of worship, where throngs of devotees flock, notably during the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan, as it usually attracts tens of thousands of worshipers. (end) tb.nam
